A new service has been launched in the Redruth Camborne area to help people in financial difficulties. Moneyaction is being led by volunteers from the Elim Church and is linked locally into the Crossover Community Project and nationally into Stewardship, a money education charity. Eleven volunteers, all CRB checked, have been trained in budget counselling and are now able to offer impartial, free and confidential advice to help people regain control of their finances. Moneyaction offers help in checking benefits and in household budgeting. Where credit agreements have been entered into that are unaffordable, referrals will be made to a specialist outside agency such as the Citizens Advice Bureau. A series of guides has been produced on topics including food and housekeeping, credit cards, housing costs, motoring and phone costs, and these are available from the Elim Church. A series of courses will also take place. The moneyaction service is available to all residents of Redruth and Camborne. To request an appointment or a “ring-back” contact Audrey Carmichael at Crossover Tel: 01209 714781.
