Civility & Respect
Published: 29 June 2026

We are deeply saddened that Camborne library was forced to close its doors on Saturday, following unacceptable anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks and threats. Libraries are vital community spaces—places of learning, openness, and belonging for everyone—and it is disheartening to see such values undermined.
As a local authority, we unequivocally reaffirm our commitment to fostering a community grounded in civility, dignity, and respect. Discrimination and harassment of any kind have no place in our Parish, and we stand firmly with all those affected by this incident.
We will continue to work with partners to ensure that our public spaces remain safe, inclusive, and welcoming to all, and that every individual feels respected and valued, regardless of who they are.
