At the Annual General Meeting of the Council held on 16 May, Cllr Henry Biscoe was elected as the Town Mayor for 2016-17, with Cllr Deborah Reeve being elected as the Deputy Town Mayor. Cllr Biscoe in his acceptance speech said “It is with great pride that I become Mayor and follow in footsteps of my great great grandfather.” He added that “there are exciting times ahead with the development of the former Brewery, Kresen Kernow; devolution of library and services and toilets; purchase of Archive Centre and acquisition of East End playing field to provide a wheeled sports facility, together with anything else Cornwall Council wishes to give to us.” And he “wants to promote civic pride and hoped to help Redruth prosper.”
