True Tales of Redruth project

True Tales of Redruth is a community project.  Local people were asked to submit their stories for inclusion in a book.  We compiled many of these stories and published the book.  Members of the public were able to buy the book for £3.60 from town centre venues until Christmas Day 2011.  They are now only available at the Cornwall Centre (Alma Place) until stocks last, and online by clicking HERE.  For further information contact Town Development Manager, Lee Dunkley, on 01209 210038 and tdm@redruth-tc.gov.uk.

This project is part of a wider centennial celebration across Cornwall, Devon and London to celebrate the life and work of Philanthropist John Passmore Edwards (1823-1911).  Passmore Edwards funded the building of the free library in Redruth, and the Children's wing of the Women's hospital, now part of the Gweal Pawl redevelopment – both of which still stand to this day.  For more about Passmore Edwards and the centennial celebrations, click here.
