A new service has been launched in the Redruth Camborne area to help people in financial difficulties.  Moneyaction is being led by volunteers from the Elim Church and is linked locally into the Crossover Community Project and nationally into Stewardship, a money education charity.  Eleven volunteers, all CRB checked, have been trained in budget counselling and are now able to offer impartial, free and confidential advice to help people regain control of their finances.  Moneyaction offers help in checking benefits and in household budgeting.  Where credit agreements have been entered into that are unaffordable, referrals will be made to a specialist outside agency such as the Citizens Advice Bureau.  A series of guides has been produced on topics including food and housekeeping, credit cards, housing costs, motoring and phone costs, and these are available from the Elim Church.  A series of courses will also take place.  The moneyaction service is available to all residents of Redruth and Camborne.  To request an appointment or a “ring-back” contact Audrey Carmichael at Crossover on 01209 714781.

Police Authority Liaison Meetings:
http://www.dcpa.police.uk/how/index.htm

One of the key objectives for the Police Authority Liaison Meetings is to consult widely with local people about the policing of their area.  This helps to set local policing priorities and targets for the Force and provides them with feedback on how you feel the police are delivering their service.  Police Authority provide an opportunity for effective and constructive two way face to face communication between the Police Authority and the public throughout Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Liaison Meetings give members of the public the opportunity to express their views using a set agenda, drop-in style or workshop format, open to everyone to attend. This gives a chance to raise general policing issues and concerns; the opportunity to learn about strategic policing issues; give an opportunity to meet Police Authority members and Officers; an opportunity to meet senior local police officers; an opportunity to discuss local policing and community safety issues; a chance to ask questions about policing issues; held on a local basis and a method of community engagement.  Police Authority Liaison Meetings don't provide a place to raise specific crimes and incidents; a place to discuss speed limit boundaries and relevant signs; a place to discuss dog fouling issues; a place to discuss parking regulations; only about consultation and the only way the Police Authority engages with the public in the area is serves.

Police Authority Liaison Meetings are also webcast on the Police Authority Website.  You can find the dates in the section named 'Involving Our Communities'.  The meeting broadcasts live as it happens via the website, then it can be archived and available for you to view at your leisure approximately 24 hours afer the meeting is completed and the archive footage remains on the website for six months. For further information on the webcasts contact the Police Authority Office on 01392 268333 or email Polauth@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk
